
Her Excellency Sajidha Mohamed, the First Lady and Chief Guide, has met with Ms. Niumath Shafeeq, the Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Committee of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The meeting, held at the Official Residence of the President, Mulee’aage, was also attended by senior officials from the Maldives Girl Guides Association.
The discussions primarily focused on the ongoing initiatives within the Girl Guide movement and explored strategic avenues for its future expansion and enhancement. Key topics included broadening the reach of the movement across various regions of the Maldives and implementing projects designed to empower young girls by developing their skills and capabilities.
The Maldives Girl Guides Association, established in 1948, is a prominent organization dedicated to the empowerment of girls and women through diverse activities and leadership programs. Currently, the association boasts a membership of over 14,000 students from 88 schools nationwide.
