
Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed has stated that financial assistance for artists will begin from next month. The Minister said this while responding to a question from a member of the public at the “Ahaa” forum. Under the initiative of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, it has been decided to promote artistry and provide financial assistance to Maldivian artists. Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed said that providing financial assistance to the country’s artists is an important policy decided by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The Minister said that a lot of work is being done to provide financial assistance to artists.
Minister Ibrahim Waheed said that the guidelines needed to provide financial assistance to artists have now been formulated. The Minister said that the opinions and suggestions of artists were sought in developing these guidelines. He also noted that the regulations for this are currently being drafted.

The Minister said that the hope is to start providing the financial assistance decided for artists next month. He stated that artists in need of financial assistance would be able to apply through a special portal. “The ministry has now decided to provide assistance through a portal. It will take some time to create the portal. We will need to fix the bugs in it. We need to test it. Otherwise, the assistance cannot be provided on time. I assure you that we will provide this assistance to the artists,” the Minister said.
Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed said that work on the production house specifically made for artists is also currently underway. While this work is being carried out in collaboration with BCC, the Minister said that this facility will be opened this year and artists will have the opportunity to use it.
