
Finance and Economic Development Planning Minister Moosa Zameer has stated that Singaporean investors are interested in investment opportunities in the Maldives, and he is hopeful that positive results will be seen. The Minister said that Singapore has been an important partner in the recent economic development of the Maldives.
In an interview with PSM News after the Maldives-Singapore Business Forum held in Singapore, Finance and Economic Development Planning Minister Moosa Zameer said that there are already many Singaporean investors in the Maldives. Noting the growing interest from additional investors in the Maldives, the Minister said that Singapore has been heavily involved in the recent economic development of the Maldives.

“There are Singaporean investors and businesses registered in Singapore operating in the Maldives, as well as large hotels and offices currently operating in the Maldives. Using this opportunity, we provided information about President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s efforts to diversify the economy, and many investors and government representatives met with the President to learn about the services available in the Maldives, the changing situation, and the steps being taken to facilitate investors,” said Finance and Economic Development Planning Minister Moosa Zameer.
Describing the Business Forum held in Singapore as very successful, the Minister said he hopes that the results of this forum will be as the President desires. He also said that he believes the relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened following the President’s visit to Singapore, and he hopes that business ties, in particular, will be strengthened.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister of Home Affairs and Culture Ali Ihsan also highlighted the success of the Business Forum. He noted that Singaporean investors are interested in the projects that the President has decided to implement in the Maldives. The Minister also expressed hope that many Singaporean investors will invest in the Maldives and become successful investors in the future.
“Singapore has had a 50-year relationship with the Maldives, and Singaporean investors have played a significant role in the Maldives’ development path, especially in the tourism industry. Singaporean investors are from a country whose development we always learn lessons from. The hope is that Singaporean investors will invest in the projects we want to see, making these projects successful quickly and bringing their sweet benefits to the Maldivian people,” said Minister of Home Affairs and Culture Ali Ihsan.

More than 200 investors participated in the Business Forum held in Singapore. This forum is an important step towards further strengthening economic ties between the Maldives and Singapore. It also demonstrates the government’s favorable policy towards strengthening economic relations between the two countries. As part of the forum, key investment opportunities in clean energy, high-end tourism, urban development, and the digital economy were highlighted, which are part of the plans to achieve the goal of making the Maldives a developed country by 2040.
