
The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has been instructed not to carry out any additional work on the land given to them in Hulhumale and the land where a storage facility has been built at the Maafannu Stadium.
In an announcement released last night, FAM stated that no changes should be made to these lands.
The announcement, which orders no further alterations to these lands, states that the land at Plot 387 in Male’ was given for the development of a sports arena with an office, funded by FIFA. This land was leased to the Sports Ministry for 50 years on February 1, 2017.
FAM has requested that if there are any agreements between the current users of the Maafannu Stadium office land and FAM or any other party, copies of such agreements and related documents should be submitted to FAM via email or to the FAM office at Galolhu Stadium before 14:30 on the 24th of this month.
Additionally, FAM has requested that no buildings be constructed or changes made to the land given to them in Hulhumale for the football school. HDC gave this land to FAM on July 11, 2018.
This land was given for 25 years, rent-free, to develop a football school with training facilities and other services. However, the previous FAM administration had subleased the land to 15 parties and started collecting rent.
On December 7, 2022, the agreement was amended so that rent for part of the land had to be paid to HDC. As FAM has not paid the required rent and fines, HDC has filed a lawsuit in the Civil Court to reclaim the land.
In last night’s announcement, FAM stated that if there are any valid agreements regarding the football school land, they should be informed before 14:00 on the 24th of this month. this month.
