
Maziya Sports and Recreation has won the championship of the League Cup 2025 organized by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM). The team secured the championship after defeating Odi Sports 4-0 in the final match played tonight at the National Football Stadium. Maziya took the lead very early in the match. In the fifth minute of the match, midfielder Ibrahim Aisam scored this goal for the team from an attack launched from outside the area. And in the 29th minute of the match, Maziya extended their lead, with Hassan Raif Ahmed (Hanna) scoring this goal for the team. He scored this goal from a pass given by Ahmed Aiham.
Even after that, Maziya had many opportunities in this match, with the team scoring two more goals in the second half. Both of these goals were scored for the team by young forward Mohamed Ilan Imran, who came on as a substitute. Thus, Ilan scored Maziya’s third goal in the 70th minute of the match from an attack launched from outside the area, and five minutes later, Ilan scored the team’s fourth goal from an opportunity created by Hamza Mohamed (Hampu). This is Ilan’s fourth goal in this tournament, making him the top scorer of the tournament. With this win, Maziya won the League Cup, with the team winning the tournament undefeated. Out of the six matches Maziya played in this tournament, the only match they didn’t win was in the league round where they drew 1-1 with Odi Sports.
The FAM League Cup, which was held with great support from the Ministry of Sports, was contested by three first division clubs namely Maziya, Odi Sports, and TC Sports Club, along with second division teams New Radiant Sports Club and ADh. Mahibadhoo Sports Club. FAM informs that this tournament will be a very important opportunity to assess the level of Maldivian players and select an appropriate national squad.
