The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the current phase of the B. Eydhafushi harbor development project involves the installation of concrete blocks needed for the harbor wall.

Under the Eydhafushi harbor development project, 35 percent of the work has now been completed.

The harbor, developed 30 years ago through the hard work of Eydhafushi residents, had become full, leading to various challenges in its use. As the commercial hub of the atoll, Eydhafushi harbor is frequented by numerous vessels from other islands in the atoll. The lack of a designated area for loading and unloading commercial goods was due to space constraints. However, upon completion of the ongoing harbor project, it will greatly benefit both the island’s residents and those of B. Atoll.

The project, developing the harbor on the western side of the island, includes the construction of a 303-meter quay wall, a 371-meter rock revetment, an 18-meter concrete bridge, a 119-meter breakwater, a 63-meter harbor entrance channel, reclamation of a 5,490 square meter area, installation of a water ramp, pavement adjacent to the water, harbor lights, and channel markers.

The B. Eydhafushi harbor project is estimated to cost approximately 64.67 million Rufiyaa.
