President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu arrived in Estonia yesterday on an official visit. This visit by the President to Estonia is at the invitation of Estonian President Dr. Alar Karis. Upon his arrival in Estonia, the President was welcomed with cultural activities.


This is the first official visit by a Maldivian President to Estonia. The main purpose of the President’s visit is to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and to discuss matters related to digital and cyber, e-governance, climate, and environmental issues.

During this visit to Estonia, which lasts until the 16th of this month, the President is accompanied by a high-level government delegation. A delegation of Maldivian technical experts is also participating in this trip.

Estonia is one of the most technologically advanced countries in Europe, having made significant progress in digital rankings. Speaking about the President’s visit, Dr. Mohamed Kinanath, State Minister for Home Affairs and Technology, said that if good consultations are held and agreements are established with that country during the visit, it would bring a major revolution to the Maldives’ technology sector.
