Speaking at the opening ceremony of the backup power plant established in Hulhumale to coincide with the peak season when electricity consumption is expected to increase, STELCO’s General Manager Ahmed Sharmeel said that STELCO has done a lot of work in preparation for this year’s peak season.
“Last year, we completed all the necessary technical work and ordered engines to prepare for the peak. On January 14th, we brought the first shipment of 4 engines to Hulhumale and placed them on the road because the land for installing the engines was not ready at that time. A month later, we brought another 4 engines and placed them on the road,” Sharmeel said. STELCO has anticipated that electricity consumption will increase even more in the coming days and has appealed to pay special attention to conserving electricity.
