Distribution of Canned Tuna Cases Begins in Male’ Area

In accordance with the pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the distribution of canned tuna cases to households for the upcoming month of Ramadan has commenced. The distribution initially started within the Greater Male’ region.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the decision to provide a case of canned tuna to every household for Ramadan during a ceremony held to mark the first anniversary of the government’s success. Following the President’s commitment, the distribution process is now underway, with collection hours scheduled from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM every night.

The Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works stated that the distribution is managed through a token system, with 300 tokens being served each night. The Ministry further noted that, so far, 4,805 households have obtained tokens through the designated portal.

According to the Ministry, the government aims to complete the distribution of canned tuna cases to all households in Male’ and the atolls before the beginning of Ramadan. In this regard, the government confirmed that cases will be dispatched to all atolls by the end of this week.

Distribution Point in Villimale’:

For this Ramadan, each household will receive a case containing 48 cans of tuna. The government has stated that 118,673 cases are expected to be distributed before the start of the holy month. According to the calendar, the first day of Ramadan this year falls on the 18th of next month.

During last year’s Ramadan, the government distributed a total of 111,231 cases as Ramadan gifts. This included 50,519 cases for households in Male’ and 60,712 cases for households in the atolls.
