Discussions have been held regarding the commencement of cargo ship routes from India to HDh. Kulhudhuffushi.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Maldives Ports Limited stated that CEO Mohamed Wajih and the management team met with some businesspeople from Kulhudhuffushi City yesterday to discuss starting direct voyages of ships carrying perishable and general cargo from Tuticorin, India to Kulhudhuffushi City.
Cargo ships are currently operating from Tuticorin, India to Addu City as well. Perishable goods required for Addu are being imported. As a result, fresh fruits and vegetables are becoming available in Addu.
Making food items available to the citizens at the most affordable prices and improving food security is a priority for President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government.
