To strengthen disaster-related damage reporting and statistical record-keeping, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has officially launched the ‘Damage Assessment and Loss Analysis’ (DALA) portal. Developed with the support of UNDP and international assistance, this portal transitions previously manual processes into a digital framework, thereby accelerating the assessment of damages and the subsequent compensation procedures.
Inaugurating the portal, the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihsan, stated that this is a significant milestone achieved under the President’s ‘Maldives 2.0’ policy. He further emphasized that this system would greatly enhance disaster response and preparedness efforts. According to the NDMA, the portal is now operational, with disaster data from the past five years already updated within the system. This centralized platform will provide local councils and relevant authorities with comprehensive access to all necessary details in one location.
