President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that numerous sports projects, including the football field, futsal court, and volleyball court in B. Dhonfanu, will be initiated this year. During his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Maalhosmadulu Atoll, the President met with the people of Dhonfanu and spoke about the planned sports projects. He mentioned that while completing the football field, they would also construct the futsal court in a way that allows for handball to be played as well.
“So, four of the promises I made are now being initiated, and there are some other matters as well. In terms of sports development, as promised, although work on the football field has begun, it wasn’t set up to complete all aspects of the field. We are now starting the field work to ensure everything is completed. We will finish this project including the fencing and lighting work,” the President said. The President stated that a futsal court would also be developed in Dhonfanu, which would be designed to accommodate both futsal and handball, with dimensions suitable for both sports. He also mentioned that the construction of a fitness and recreation center and an outdoor gym would begin this year, and a volleyball court would be developed next year.
