According to recent statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives is currently welcoming an average of over 7,000 tourists daily. As of the 28th of this month, total arrivals have reached 2.2 million, marking a 9.9% growth compared to the same period last year. Notably, with the onset of the peak tourist season, arrivals surged past 9,000 last Saturday and Sunday alone. So far this month, more than 200,000 tourists have visited the Maldives, representing an 8.2% increase compared to December of the previous year.
China remains the leading source market, with over 300,000 tourists visiting so far. Russia and the United Kingdom follow in second and third place, respectively, both contributing more than 200,000 arrivals. This year, the milestone of 2 million tourist arrivals was achieved on the 27th of last month—reaching this target a full month earlier than in the previous year, when the 2-million mark was recorded on December 26.
