Consultations held with Pakistan regarding technical assistance needed for the health sector

Discussions have been held with Pakistan’s National Institute of Health regarding technical assistance needed for the health sector. These consultations took place during an official visit by senior officials from the Ministry of Health to Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, where they visited the National Institute of Health (NIH). During this visit, a meeting was held with the Chief Executive Officer and technical officials of the NIH.

The meeting primarily focused on collaboration between the two parties to strengthen the Maldives’ public health system and capacity. Discussions were held on potential areas of cooperation, including field epidemiology training, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring, infection prevention and control (IPC), and strengthening the disease surveillance system. Both parties also discussed enhancing technical cooperation, training opportunities, and institutional relationships.

As part of their ongoing trip to Pakistan, the delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Health has also visited the Armed Forces Institute of Urology (AFIU) and the Armed Forces Bone Marrow Transplant Center (AFBMTC). During these visits, they gathered information about clinical services and institutional training programs.
