
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the Taxi Drivers Association. During the meeting, held at the President’s Office, discussions focused on resolving the challenges faced in providing taxi services and exploring measures that can be taken to enhance these services. Among the issues raised by the Taxi Drivers Association were suggestions for improved arrangements regarding the registration and parking of vehicles used for taxi services, aiming for more effective systems than those currently in place. They also discussed immediate changes deemed necessary to alleviate traffic congestion in Malé. Furthermore, the association shared its perspectives with the President regarding the government’s upcoming taxi line initiative.
Moreover, constructive discussions were held concerning the registry of taxi drivers. In his remarks during the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of a comprehensive taxi drivers’ registry for improving their welfare. He also highlighted several key initiatives the government is considering to facilitate better conditions for taxi drivers. The President assured during the meeting that efforts would be made to resolve the issues identified by the Taxi Drivers Association, involving both taxi drivers and other parties involved in providing taxi services.
