
Construction work has officially begun on the police station in Ukulhas, North Ari Atoll. The commencement of the practical work on the Ukulhas Police Station was officially inaugurated during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing tour of the northern Ari Atoll islands. The President participated in the ceremony held to mark the official start of the construction work on the Ukulhas Police Station. At this ceremony, the practical work of the police station was initiated by the Minister of Home Affairs and Culture, Ali Ihsaan, Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, and the, and the Managing Director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Ahmed Saudee. Additionally, the President of the Ukulhas Council was also in attendance.
The development of the police station in Ukulhas has been entrusted to MTCC. Under this project, it is planned to construct a police building along with a detention facility within an area of 5,200 square feet. Furthermore, the project includes groundwork, concrete and masonry work, tiling, installation of doors and windows, painting, metalwork, hydraulics and drainage work, and electrical wiring as part of the police station development project. This project has been awarded to MTCC for 7.11 million rufiyaa, with a completion timeline of 240 days.
This is a project initiated under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s policy to expand police services to all inhabited islands of the Maldives. The government’s aim’s aim is to establish police stations on every island in the Maldives within two years. Accordingly, work has already begun this year to establish police stations on many islands where they currently do not exist.
