Farrukh Zakirov, the Uzbekistani head coach of the Maldives national futsal team, has stated that India remains the most significant challenge in the ongoing SAFF Futsal Championship in Thailand. Emphasizing the gravity of the upcoming fixture, the coach noted that the match must be approached with the utmost seriousness. Following two dominant victories in the opening rounds, Zakirov observed that opposing teams will now be more meticulously prepared when facing the Maldives, a factor the national side must carefully consider. He identified today’s clash against India as one of the most demanding encounters of the tournament, asserting that the Maldivian squad will enter the pitch fully prepared after analyzing India’s tactical approach.

The coach further explained that while teams were initially unfamiliar with their opponents’ playing styles, the progression of the tournament has allowed everyone to study each other’s strategies and game plans. The Maldives launched their campaign with a convincing 7-1 victory over Pakistan, followed by a 6-1 win against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, India remains unbeaten in the competition, having secured draws in both their matches. India currently sits 5th in the league standings with 2 points, while the Maldives leads the table with 6 points.

In addition to the coach’s remarks, the players expressed their readiness for today’s encounter, affirming their determination to secure a positive result. The match between the Maldives and India is scheduled to kick off today at 3:00 PM Maldives time. All matches of the championship will be broadcast live on PSM’s YesTV.
