The Ambassador said that with the help of experienced athletes from that country, many grassroots programs are being conducted in the city to promote sports. He revealed that work is being done in the city to build a new generation of sports through these programs. The Ambassador said that the assistance of successful athletes from Fujian City will be provided to Maldivian players in the future.

The Chinese Ambassador further said that the sports equipment donated to the Maldives by Fujian Province is a symbol of the long-standing friendship between the two countries. Referring to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Maldivian government and the Chinese government in the field of sports in February this year, the Ambassador assured that they will continue to provide assistance to the Maldives in the field of sports as agreed in that memorandum. According to this memorandum, the two countries have agreed to jointly conduct many sports-related activities. This includes exchanging athletes between the two countries and holding training camps. In addition, the Ambassador said that it is also China’s goal to train Maldivian athletes with Chinese assistance and secure a gold medal for the Maldives in an international competition.
