CBL has successfully secured the championship title of the Maldives T-10 Smash Cricket Tournament, an event meticulously organized by the Cricket Board of Maldives. The team clinched this prestigious championship by defeating Vicenza in the final match, securing a dominant victory by 52 runs.
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, His Excellency Mohamed Rizvi Hassan, graced the final match of the tournament. He also had the honor of presenting the trophies to both the champion team and the runner-up team.
In recognition of his outstanding performance, Tharaka Ruwan of CBL was named the Man of the Match in the final of the Maldives T-10 Smash Cricket Tournament, having scored 46 runs and taken 4 wickets. The accolade for the Best Batsman of the entire tournament was awarded to Eranda Sanjeewa from MSHHSA, who impressively accumulated a total of 255 runs. Furthermore, Ibrahim Rizan of Malé Sports earned the Best Bowler title for his excellent performance, taking 7 wickets throughout the tournament. The most prestigious award, the Player of the Tournament (All-rounder), was bestowed upon Mohamed Shiyam of Malé Sports, who amassed an exceptional 498 MVP points.

In an interview with PSM News concerning the tournament, Ahmed Hussain, an Executive Committee member of the Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM), expressed his satisfaction, stating that the tournament received an overwhelming response. He further elaborated that the tournament was conducted in a 10-over format, which he highlighted as the most popular and widely supported format in contemporary cricket.
“In current cricket, short formats have become the most competitive, enjoyable for spectators, and preferred by players. This is because matches conclude in a short time, and players aim to score quickly within a limited number of overs, often attempting to hit boundaries. Therefore, the tournament was played with great excitement,” Ahmed remarked.
The tournament was held from November 14th to December 5th at Court No. 1 of the Malé Sports Complex. Six of the Maldives’ strongest cricket teams competed in this event. The teams that participated, with matches primarily held on weekends, included CBL, Malé Sports, New Star, Comets, Vicenza, and MSHHSA.
