Michael Carrick has been confirmed as the new manager of Manchester United, taking over from former coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the club is expected to officially announce his appointment for the remainder of the season once his full coaching staff has been finalized. Carrick, a former assistant coach at United, previously served as interim manager following Solskjaer’s dismissal and prior to Ralf Rangnick’s appointment. Most recently, he managed Middlesbrough, where he achieved notable success by guiding the team from the relegation zone to the playoffs in his debut season.

Following the departure of Ruben Amorim, Carrick’s primary mandate is to secure European qualification for Manchester United for the upcoming season. The club currently occupies seventh place in the league standings with 32 points. Carrick boasts a distinguished history with United, having enjoyed a decorated playing career from 2006 until his retirement in 2018. During his tenure under Sir Alex Ferguson, he was instrumental in winning five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
