Building a Healthy Society for a “Healthy Life – Happy Community”

The national campaign “Healthy Life – Happy Community” has been launched with the aim of building empowered communities in all islands to promote public health and create a healthier society. The campaign was inaugurated by the First Lady Sajida Mohamed at a ceremony held in K. Guraidhoo. The Minister of Health, Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim, also participated in the ceremony.

The “Healthy Life – Happy Community Campaign” is designed to raise awareness about preventing common diseases in the Maldives that are linked to lifestyle habits, dietary patterns, and daily routines as part of public health promotion efforts. Under the slogan “Healthy Life – Happy Community,” the Ministry of Health stated that the campaign will include sustainable public health activities targeting children, youth, women, and the elderly to promote and engage them in healthy living. The campaign will be implemented in collaboration with various institutions, including key stakeholders who play important roles in successfully planning and implementing public health activities at the island level.

During the inauguration ceremony, Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim stated that the current government is taking necessary preventive measures before illnesses occur. He mentioned that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government has implemented robust and exemplary measures to protect Maldivian citizens from diseases. The Health Minister also noted that the government continues to set an example by taking necessary legal measures to protect citizens from such illnesses. “President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu wants this campaign to move forward with momentum. We will proceed with this campaign under the President’s guidance. We will implement this as a campaign with everyone’s involvement,” said Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim.

The Ministry of Health stated that the activities conducted under this campaign will be regularly monitored and evaluated. They will also establish systems and arrangements for submitting reports on campaign activities. Awards have been arranged to recognize and encourage those who work best to promote public health through this campaign’s work and activities. These include the Healthy Life – Happy Community Island Award, School Award, and Association Award.

These awards will be presented annually to those who achieve the best results based on established criteria.
