The bodies of two Israelis held hostage by Hamas in Gaza have been recovered.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a jihadi attack in response to Israeli aggression, taking 251 Israelis hostage. Under previous agreements between Hamas and Israel, Hamas has released many hostages. Of the hostages under Hamas’ control, 199 have been released so far, with 148 of them released alive. Israel now believes that Hamas still holds 49 hostages, of which 20 are believed to be alive. Hamas stated that many hostages under their control have died due to continuous Israeli attacks on Gaza.
One of the recently recovered bodies is reportedly that of Ilan Weiss, a 55-year-old man. His wife and child were also taken hostage by Hamas but were released in November 2023 as part of a hostage exchange agreement. The identity of the second recovered hostage has not been disclosed.
Israel is now working to expand its military operations across Gaza, aiming to bring the entire area under full Israeli control. In their attacks aimed at exterminating Gaza’s population, Israel has killed over 63,000 Gazans so far, mostly innocent women and children. Israel is using food as a weapon of war, deliberately starving Gaza’s residents, resulting in 322 deaths from hunger. In the past 24 hours, 59 Gazans have been killed due to Israeli attacks, with an additional five dying from starvation.
