BML ATM Service Launched in Fainu

Bank of Maldives has launched its ATM service in R. Fainu. The ATM service in Fainu was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Cities and Administrative Areas and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, at a ceremony held on the island for this purpose. The ceremony was attended by BML’s CEO Mohamed Shareef, senior bank officials, members of the island council, and members of parliament representing the atoll.

To mark the launch of the ATM service in Fainu, Minister Adam Shareef withdrew cash from the ATM and then handed over a symbolic ATM card to the island council. The card was received on behalf of the island council by its president. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Adam Shareef Umar said that today, arrangements have been made to provide services right to one’s doorstep, and this is a certainty that the public will benefit from. He also mentioned that this would bring great convenience to the elderly residents.

Speaking at the ceremony, BML’s CEO Mohamed Shareef shared the history of the bank’s cash withdrawal services. The CEO said that at the beginning of this year, more than half of the inhabited islands did not have this service. However, under this project, ATMs will be installed on all islands by the end of October. The ATM installed in Fainu is a self-service ATM that provides 24-hour cash withdrawal and deposit services. As part of Bank of Maldives’ efforts to launch ATM services in the islands of R. Atoll, ATM services have been started on 9 islands in this phase. With this, ATMs will be installed on all inhabited islands of the atoll.

As part of the project jointly carried out by Bank of Maldives and the government to provide ATM services on all inhabited islands of the Maldives, the service has been launched in 15 atolls so far.
