Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, has stated that the Ayla project is a landmark initiative destined to elevate the Maldives’ tourism industry to unprecedented heights while delivering substantial economic benefits. Developed under the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) framework in Noonu Atoll, this integrated township aims to transform the Maldives from being solely a vacation destination into a premier hub for living and investment. With a total investment of USD 790 million, the project is set to unlock new opportunities in the healthcare, education, and lifestyle sectors, significantly boosting the nation’s GDP and labor market. Targeted for completion by 2028, this project is envisioned as a world-class development that will stand out on a global scale.
