Australia has also announced its decision to recognize Palestine as an independent state. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that Australia will officially recognize Palestine as an independent state at the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting next month. He said this decision was made to push for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Albanese revealed that the decision was made based on consultations with the Australian Cabinet and assurances from the Palestinian Authority that Hamas would not have a role in the government of an established independent Palestinian state.
In addition to Australia, New Zealand has also said it is considering recognizing an independent Palestinian state. New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters said that the country’s Cabinet will formally decide on the matter before the UN General Assembly meeting. As the world stands up against the genocide in Gaza, Palestine, some countries of the European Union are also changing their stance and saying they will recognize the Palestinian state. In this regard, France and the United Kingdom have also said they will recognize Palestine as an independent state if the aggression against Gaza does not stop before the UN General Assembly meeting in September.
However, Peters said that although New Zealand’s friendly countries have decided to recognize the Palestinian state, New Zealand maintains an independent foreign policy. Therefore, he said that New Zealand will fully consider its principles and interests in deciding whether to recognize the Palestinian state. The Jews are already facing international pressure due to the starvation situation in Gaza. Due to the criticism aimed at the Jews, they have been forced to suspend attacks on Gaza at times and allow the entry of aid supplies. Although the Jews said they would provide this opportunity from July 27, the World Food Programme (WFP) has said that the organization has not received the necessary permits to bring aid supplies into Gaza.
Aid organizations continue to report that the number of people suffering from hunger, malnutrition, and other hunger-related illnesses in Gaza is increasing, leading to a significant rise in hunger-related deaths. In response to the Jewish aggression that became unbearable, the Hamas group ruling Gaza launched a jihadi attack targeting Jews on October 7, 2023. In retaliation for these attacks, the Jewish forces have begun a genocide to exterminate the people of Gaza. Although the exchange of attacks was briefly suspended under a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Jews that came into effect on January 19, the Jewish forces violated the agreement and resumed attacks on Gaza on March 18.
The total number of martyrs in Gaza since the aggression began has now exceeded 61,000. The entire Gaza has been devastated as a result of the attacks.
