Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdullah Muththalib has stated that they are attempting to recover the servers damaged in the fire incident at the Housing Ministry by sending them to Singapore. Responding to a question from a journalist at a press conference held today at the President’s Office, the Minister said that the fire incident occurred while server systems were being set up to create backup data at the Umar Zahir Building and other locations, and that the project was nearing completion when the incident occurred.
“Now we have recovered the disks from the servers and sent them to Singapore to see if we can recover any information from them. We are continuing that work. However, the fire has had a significant impact,” Muththalib said.
The Minister stated that the damage to the servers due to the fire incident will not affect the plot list, flat list, or any lists announced thereafter, as the portals are established on Microsoft Azure. On December 12 last year, a fire broke out in three ministries, including the Housing Ministry, burning them to the point of being unusable.
Muththalib said that all information up to mid-2022 has been saved, and that information after that was not saved because the government stopped paying certain subscription fees that were being paid at the time.
