Atletico scores five goals against Real in 75 years

This result marks the first time in 75 years that Atletico Madrid has scored five goals against Real in matches between the two rival Madrid clubs. The last time Atletico Madrid scored so many goals against Real was in 1950. In that match, Atletico Madrid won with a score of 6-3. In this match, played at Madrid’s Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, Atletico Madrid’s Robin Le Normand scored a goal in the 14th minute, giving his team the lead.

However, 11 minutes later, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé scored a goal, equalizing the match. In the 36th minute, Arda Güler scored a goal, giving Real Madrid their first lead in this match. Before the end of the first half, Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sørloth scored a goal, changing the score to 2-2. Atletico Madrid, playing under Diego Simeone’s guidance, scored another goal shortly after the start of the second half, taking the lead for the second time against Real. This goal was scored by Julián Álvarez from a penalty awarded to the team.

Álvarez scored Atletico Madrid’s fourth goal in the 63rd minute of the match, while Antoine Griezmann scored an additional goal in extra time, changing the final score to 5-2.5-2.
