Ahmed Agil (Anmadey), Ismail Rasheed (Smiley), and Hood Ahmed (Hoobs) have been selected to represent the Maldives in the Asian Surfing Championship. Trials were held to select the athletes who will participate in this tournament, which will be held in Mahabalipuram, India. In addition to these three athletes, Najah Mohamed also competed in the final heat of the trials. Anmadey achieved the best result in the final heat. Smiley came in second. Hoobs secured third place.
Last year, the Maldives also competed in the Asian Surfing Championship. When the tournament was held in Thulusdhoo last year, the Maldives managed to secure a bronze medal. This year’s tournament will be held in August.
