The amendment to the dress code of the People’s Majlis has been approved by the parliament. This amendment was proposed to the General Committee by the Speaker of the Majlis, Abdur Raheem Abdullah. The Speaker brought this matter forward because some members of the current 20th Majlis have been attending sessions without wearing ties. Consequently, he proposed an amendment to Article 61 of the Majlis regulations. According to the guidelines established under the proposed amendment to the Majlis regulations, members must be in formal attire during Majlis sessions. Formal attire is defined as a suit and tie, shirt with tie and trousers, or national or cultural dress.
The amendment also specifies inappropriate attire for the Majlis. Additionally, it states that disciplinary action can be taken against members who do not comply with the regulations as per the amendment. This amendment was passed unanimously by the voting members of the Majlis.
