
During a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health, the Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, officially handed over the keys for new ambulances to be dispatched to hospitals and health centers across 56 islands. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to address the healthcare challenges identified by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his official visits to the islands.
The project, contracted to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), involved an investment of MVR 65.3 million. Under the terms of this agreement, MPL will also assume responsibility for the ongoing repair and maintenance of the fleet. Furthermore, the government has announced plans to procure specialized paramedic ambulances for major cities and additional ambulances for another 31 islands in the upcoming phase.
