Supporters of the Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr, have begun voicing their desire for the club to sell Cristiano Ronaldo.
Dissatisfaction among fans regarding the 41-year-old forward has intensified following the team’s recent slump, marked by three consecutive defeats. Last Monday, Al-Nassr suffered a 3-1 loss in the Saudi Pro League to league leaders Al-Hilal. This follows a 3-2 defeat against Al-Ahli on January 2nd and a 2-1 loss to Al-Qadsiah on January 8th. Having failed to secure a single victory so far this year, the club’s prospects of clinching the league title have virtually vanished.
In a display of frustration during the most recent match, fans taunted Ronaldo as he took to the pitch by chanting the name of his long-time rival, Lionel Messi. Ronaldo, however, appeared largely unfazed by the provocation.
Supporters advocating for Ronaldo’s sale on social media have highlighted three primary concerns: the club’s failure to secure a major trophy during his three-year tenure, declining stadium attendance in certain matches, and his inability to deliver the level of success he promised during his high-profile unveiling.
Conversely, some supporters remain defensive of the Portuguese captain. They argue that Ronaldo has brought unprecedented global recognition to Al-Nassr and that his commercial value to the club is immense. These fans warn that his departure would lead to a significant decline in the international attention the club currently enjoys.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s current contract with Al-Nassr is set to run until 2027.
