“The national airline, Maldivian, has announced that it will commence flight operations connecting the four southernmost atolls—Addu, Fuvahmulah, Gaafu Alif, and Gaafu Dhaalu—starting February 1. Operating from its base at Gan International Airport, the airline will utilize 15-seater Twin Otter aircraft for these routes. According to Maldivian, this service is expected to significantly ease travel between the southern atolls, fostering stronger social ties and boosting regional tourism.

The operations are structured across five sectors, with ticket prices ranging from MVR 500 to MVR 900. Specifically, travel between Gan and Fuvahmulah is priced at MVR 500, while flights from Fuvahmulah to Kooddoo or Kaadedhdhoo will cost MVR 650. Additionally, travel from Gan to Kooddoo or Kaadedhdhoo is set at MVR 900. This initiative is a key component of the government’s policy to strengthen regional connectivity and facilitate easier access for citizens traveling for medical, educational, and other essential purposes.”
