Under this project, 13 hectares of land will be reclaimed, along with the construction of a 1,229-meter revetment and a 125-meter breakwater around the reclaimed area. Additionally, for coastal protection, two 25-meter and one 15-meter groyne will be constructed, and a 42-meter jetty will be developed at the harbor. MTCC has been contracted to complete this work for 214 million rufiyaa within 720 days.

The agreement for the Dhonfanu School Development Project was signed with Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation. Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu signed on behalf of the Ministry of Education, while Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation’s Managing Director Hamdhaan Shakeel signed for the company. This agreement includes the development of 6 classrooms, a multipurpose hall, a library, and a science lab at the island’s school.

Although Dhonfanu is a small island in terms of population, the government believes that these urban development projects will bring significant benefits to the island’s residents. The government states that these projects will notably improve Dhonfanu’s economic and social conditions, elevate the living standards of the islanders, create additional employment opportunities, and pave the way for youth to acquire new skills.
