An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources and the Nolhivaram Council to establish a store selling agricultural supplies in HDh. Nolhivaram. The agreement was signed during a meeting held with the residents of Nolhivaram as part of the President’s ongoing tour of HDh. Atoll islands. Dr. Mariyam Mariya, the Minister, signed on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources, while Yoosuf Moosa, the President of Nolhivaram Council, signed on behalf of the council.
As Nolhivaram is an island where agriculture is practiced extensively, establishing a system to easily purchase agricultural supplies on the island is one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledges. Under this agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources will find a party to open a store on land provided by the council to sell agricultural supplies in HDh. Nolhivaram. They will draft an agreement and commence the work. The Ministry will also monitor to ensure that the items sold are approved for import into the Maldives and that agricultural supplies are sold to farmers at reasonable prices. The Nolhivaram Council will be responsible for monitoring whether the work progresses according to the work plan, as stated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources.
