Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has expressed gratitude following Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel’s official disclosure that the ‘India Out’ campaign was initiated and led by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
During his ongoing official visit to India, in an interview with India’s Wion News, the Minister stated that the ‘India Out’ movement was a campaign spearheaded by President Yameen. He added that Yameen is now far removed from the ruling PNC party and is working against the government with his own party.
“Our relationship with the former president is completely different. He is now completely outside. And at the moment, he is working against the government,” Khaleel said. In response, Adeeb posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying that he had been informing Indian friends and media since the beginning of 2024 that the ‘India Out’ campaign was initiated under President Yameen’s anti-India stance. He expressed happiness that the Foreign Minister has now officially confirmed this.
“I am happy and grateful that the Foreign Minister has officially revealed that ‘India Out’ is not a campaign associated with President Dr. Muizzu,” Adeeb stated.
