Aa. Atoll becomes the 8th atoll to have ATMs installed on all islands

Bank of Maldives has launched ATM services in Aa. Maalhos under the “BML ATM Nationwide” project, establishing ATM services on all islands of the atoll. Installing ATMs on all inhabited islands of the Maldives is a pledge by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. For atoll residents, traveling to the atoll capital or a designated island to access banking services has been a significant hardship. The people’s dream has been to have easy have easy access to banking services in their own islands. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has promised to alleviate these difficulties and provide banking services to people in their own islands.

Accordingly, under the name “ATM Services Nationwide,” a special project was launched by Bank of Maldives last November under the initiative of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. Under this project, BML ATM services have been established and launched on all inhabited islands of 8 atolls so far. The most recent completion of ATM services was in Aa. Atoll. Including Aa. Atoll, the atolls where BML ATMs have been installed are Ha. Atoll, Sh. Atoll, D. Atoll, N. Atoll, M. Atoll, as well as K. and B. Atolls.

Regarding the launch of ATM services in Maalhos, BML’s CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said that with the establishment of ATM services on all inhabited islands of Aa. Atoll, ATM services have now been installed on all islands of 8 atolls under the “BML ATM Nationwide” project. Shareef stated that they are working to expand the bank’s services to make BML services easily accessible in all corners of the Maldives. Including Aa. Atoll, the atolls where BML ATMs have been installed are Ha. Atoll, Sh. Atoll, D. Atoll, N. Atoll, M. Atoll, as well as K. and B. Atolls.

BML said that with a banking network covering the entire Maldives, including 41 branches in 20 atolls, 144 Self-Service Banking Centers, 200 ATMs, agent banking services, and the most modern online banking services, Bank of Maldives aims to support individuals, businesses, and communities across different parts of the country. While Bank of Maldives is carrying out the nationwide ATM installation project under the supervision of the Ministry of Economic Development, the bank’s goal is to complete the entire project by the end of this year. The bank has stated that this project will empower island communities financially and bring economic progress to these islands.

While BML’s ATM services were first introduced in 2000, the expansion of this service to atolls outside of Male’ began in 2007.
