Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafiu has stated that an adequate budget will be allocated next year as well to carry out various programs in the education sector and provide necessary services to students. The Minister shared information about some of the ongoing work in the education sector during the third session of the High Achievers Award ceremony. Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafiu said that special efforts are being made to strengthen the management of the Ministry of Education. In this regard, the Minister said that work has begun to change some long-standing practices in the ministry and transform it to be more modern and capable of providing guidance, advice, and technical assistance needed by schools.
The Minister said that the Ministry of Education’s budget for 2025 has been increased compared to 2024. As such, about 300 million rufiyaa has been added to this year’s budget for providing services needed by students and running various programs. He also said that an adequate budget will be allocated for the coming year to strengthen the work in the education sector. The Minister stated that the quality of education cannot be improved without increasing the per-student expenditure. “The best change, within the economic capacity of the state, has come to the education sector. And it will continue in that direction,” said Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafiu.
In this ceremony as well, the Minister highlighted the difficulties in recruiting teachers. The Minister emphasized the importance of talented students entering this field and becoming excellent teachers. He noted that excellent teachers are needed to produce excellent students and that the country can only progress with excellent people.
