
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has arranged for a Liverpool legend to visit the Maldives this June. MMPRC Chairman Shiuree has stated that they have decided to organize a foot festival as a fan zone for the English football club Liverpool FC this month, and have decided to bring a Liverpool legend for this foot festival. Speaking on a PSM News program, Shiuree said that as part of the campaign launched to promote the Maldives in collaboration with the famous English football club Liverpool, senior officials from Liverpool who recently visited the Maldives have carried out some work in the country.
Accordingly, they have studied the condition of football grounds in the Maldives and other facilities, and researched the state of football in the Maldives. “Their high-level team came to the Maldives, observed the country’s situation, and clarified the objectives they want to achieve. They thoroughly examined the grounds and facilities in the Maldives and conducted comprehensive studies,” Shiuree said. He noted that Liverpool’s branding received a great response during the recently held ATM Fair. He mentioned that cutouts of Salah, Van Dijk, and Nunez were displayed at the Maldives stall at the ATM Fair, and many people came to take photos with these cutouts.
“In collaboration with Liverpool, we have also run a MyLFC campaign through their application. They noted that nearly thirty thousand new followers participated in this. The person who came first has been given the opportunity to visit the Maldives,” Shiuree said. He also highlighted that according to last year’s statistics, Liverpool Football Club is the football club with the most engagement, with over one billion engagements occurring last year. Shiuree stated that many things have already been accomplished through the agreement made with Liverpool FC. Noting that Liverpool FC is the champion team of the English Premier League and has a very large follower or fan base, Shiuree said that the campaign being conducted with Liverpool is progressing very well.
Shiuree said that Liverpool is a football powerhouse with over a hundred years of history and is a premium brand in football. He added that the Maldives is also a premium brand in tourism, and he hopes that successful work can be done through the collaboration of these two premium brands. With the historic agreement between the Maldives and Liverpool FC, a major campaign to promote the Maldives has been launched, including Liverpool players and officials. This campaign was inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during a visit to Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium on April 3, 2025.
The Maldives was appointed as Liverpool’s “Official Tourist Destination Partner” as part of a campaign lasting three years and six months, aimed at increasing the reach of the Maldives tourism brand and encouraging more tourists to visit the Maldives.
