Ibrahim Shujau, Member of Parliament for Baarah Constituency, has stated that the opposition MDP is using the Constitution to destabilize the country. Shujau made this statement at a time when the MDP is preparing to hold a large gathering next month in defense of the Constitution. In a post on “X”, Shujau said that the MDP is using the Constitution to destabilize the country.
“Don’t try to revive the era of throwing firebombs, spraying pepper spray on police faces, and setting fire to government buildings like before. That will not happen again, InshaaAllah. If anything is done against the Constitution, we will go to court,” Shujau said. Shujau said that the era of MDP holding courts on the streets is over. He said that they will not allow the opportunities for billion-dollar projects coming to the country to be lost by destabilizing the streets, as was done before.
According to the MDP, this gathering named “People in Defense of the Constitution” will be held on the 10th of next month in the Carnival area of Male’. The MDP said that this is a gathering to raise voices against the government’s attempts to change the Constitution, which was achieved through the hard work of many people, without any consideration or consultation with the people, and against the government’s infringement on individual and fundamental freedoms.
