The R. Maakurathu Harbour Extension Project, contracted to MTCC for MVR 26.67 million, has reached 63 percent completion. The scope of the project includes dredging, the construction of a quay wall and jetty, and coastal protection measures; currently, work is focused on the installation of the breakwater. Upon completion, the project will address the existing harbour capacity constraints and significantly enhance maritime transportation and accessibility for the island’s community.
