The Criminal Court has ruled against issuing an order for the return of items seized by the police during a search of the Adhadhu news office. While 15 of the 20 seized items have already been returned, the police and the Prosecutor General’s Office stated that the remaining laptops and chargers are still being processed, as the forensic investigation remains incomplete due to inaccessible passwords. In its decision, the court determined that the seizure was conducted in accordance with criminal procedure. The court further noted that releasing the items before the investigation concludes could potentially compromise the case, and therefore, there is no legal basis to compel their return at this stage.
