
In her address at the inaugural seminar dedicated to enhancing mental wellbeing within the workplace, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed emphasized that discrimination and tension among employees significantly impact mental health. She highlighted the importance of fostering collaborative teamwork and maintaining open communication between leadership and staff.
Underscoring the gravity of the situation, the First Lady noted that one in five individuals in the Maldives suffers from depression. She further articulated that a mentally healthy workforce leads to increased productivity, reduced absenteeism, and improved punctuality. This seminar, organized jointly by the National Mental Health Department and the Civil Service Commission, marks the first initiative of its kind in the Maldives focused on this critical issue.
