The Member of Parliament for the Vilimale constituency, Mohamed Ismail, has asserted that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) failed to undertake any meaningful initiatives for the nation’s benefit during its two terms in power. He noted that instead of progress, these periods were characterized by politically motivated recruitment within state-owned enterprises and the creation of various commissions to provide employment for close associates.
Mohamed specifically highlighted that the previous administration added over 10,000 employees to state companies, leaving them burdened with debt and severely compromised. He further stated that the current administration is now dedicated to restructuring these companies and implementing essential cost-cutting measures to restore fiscal stability.
