The Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has announced that the “Data Exchange Layer,” a system designed to facilitate seamless information sharing and document verification among government institutions, is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
Speaking at the Addu Business Dialogue, the Minister highlighted that this initiative is a significant step toward enhancing ease of doing business. Once operational, the system will eliminate the need for individuals and businesses to manually submit certificates or licenses issued by one government entity to another, as these documents will be automatically verified through the integrated digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, Minister Ihusaan underscored the government’s strategic objective to fully digitalize all public services and achieve a paperless administration by June 2028. To ensure the integrity of this digital transformation, the Minister also noted that robust cybersecurity standards are being established. These measures, overseen by a dedicated agency, aim to build a secure and resilient digital environment protected against potential cyber threats.
