Discussions have taken place regarding the retail and promotion of ‘Authentic Maldives’ products in the Japanese market.
These deliberations were held during a meeting between the Ambassador of the Maldives to Japan, His Excellency Ahmed Mahloof, and the Director of JATS Co. Ltd., along with the Managing Director of Global Trade Resources. The meeting was hosted at the Embassy of the Maldives in Japan.
In a post on the social media platform X, Ambassador Mahloof stated that the meeting was initiated at the request of the management of the Business Center Corporation (BCC). The primary objective of the discussion was to explore strategies to enhance the market presence of Authentic Maldives products within Japan.
The Ambassador further noted that the discussions focused on expanding the opportunities to sell Maldivian products through Japan’s ‘One Village One Product’ (OVOP) retail outlets. Such initiatives are expected to provide Maldivian artisans and entrepreneurs with significant exposure in the international market, fostering growth and global recognition for local craftsmanship.
Authentic Maldives is a flagship initiative by the Business Center Corporation (BCC), established to showcase and commercialize the work of Maldivian artisans and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The BCC remains committed to expanding the reach of Maldivian products through various marketing avenues, both domestically and internationally.
