President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he will further develop the football field in B. Dharavandhoo. The President made this statement while speaking to the people of Dharavandhoo during his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Maalhosmadulu Atoll. The President said that enhancing youth well-being is a priority policy, and as part of the efforts to establish sports facilities, he will further develop the football field in Dharavandhoo. He also mentioned that additional sports facilities would be established in Dharavandhoo this year and next year.
“Although there is a football field on this island, it cannot be used at night because lights have not been installed yet,” the President said. Highlighting that this government has begun work on establishing football fields in various regions of the country, the President stated that the government has also started work on establishing fields for other sports. The President said that the main goal of the fields being established by this government in the islands is to hand them over to the people as complete fields with all necessary facilities.
“This means that on islands without surrounding walls, we will include walls, floodlights, and all such things. So, for the field on this island, I can tell you that we will assign a party to install lights so that it can be used at night as well,” the President said. He stated that under the efforts to establish sports facilities, work that can be started in Dharavandhoo this year will be initiated. The President also mentioned that projects for developing sports in Dharavandhoo are included in next year’s budget.
