Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, has announced that the establishment of new Public Works Units across 19 islands in 15 atolls will create approximately 500 job opportunities. This initiative is part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s policy to strengthen the maintenance and management of infrastructure in local islands. The Minister further noted that the necessary vehicles and equipment for these units are expected to arrive by April or May this year, following which the recruitment process will commence. Once operational, these units will work in coordination with local councils to significantly enhance the delivery of municipal services to the public.
