The Elections Commission of Maldives has released the final voter registry for the upcoming Local Council Elections and Women’s Development Committee Elections scheduled for next month. According to the registry, a total of 294,876 individuals are eligible to cast their votes. This includes 150,370 men and 144,506 women.
The Commission has decided to place a total of 588 ballot boxes across Malé, the atolls, resorts, and prison facilities. However, ballot boxes will not be stationed in industrial islands or overseas countries, as the number of registered voters in those locations did not meet the required threshold. The Elections Commission urges all citizens to verify their registered voting location by sending an SMS to 1414.
