The Government of Maldives has revised its regulations to allow international vessels entering the country to access port limits 24 hours a day. This significant policy shift updates a long-standing regulation in place since 1988, effectively eliminating the requirement for vessels arriving after midnight to wait outside the port until 6:00 AM. This change is expected to save valuable time and reduce operational costs for shipping lines and vessel operators.
To support this initiative, the government has ensured that clearance and pilotage services are now available around the clock without interruption. This measure, introduced under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, aims to bolster the national economy and enhance the ease of doing business in the Maldives. Furthermore, the administration has also implemented positive reforms concerning air cargo clearance procedures and the extension of demurrage-free periods.
