200,000 Chinese tourists to Maldives, a 15% increase

So far this year, over 200,000 tourists from China have visited the Maldives. According to the latest Daily Update Report released by the Ministry of Tourism, as of the 10th of this month, 205,130 tourists from China have visited the Maldives. This is a 15.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Statistics show that in the first 10 days of this month, 66,418 tourists have visited the Maldives. And so far this year, a total of 1.3 million tourists have visited the Maldives. This is a 9.1% increase compared to the 1.2 million tourists who visited during the same period last year.

China is the country from which the highest number of tourists visit the Maldives. Russia is the second highest source country for tourists.

  • Russia: 161,290 tourists
  • United Kingdom: 126,111 tourists

Statistics show that an average of 6,642 tourists visit the Maldives daily. Last year, 2 million tourists visited the Maldives. The government has set a target to bring 2.3 million tourists to the Maldives before the end of this year. To achieve this goal, the government is undertaking many efforts to further develop the tourism industry.
